The 777 challenge is when a writer is challenged by another writer to post the seven lines of text, seven lines down on the seventh page of their work-in-progress.
Go here to check out Valerie's 777 on her blog.
Here goes. This is from my current WIP that I'm trying to revise:
Dried grass covers
my sweater and clings to my hair. Lovely, Momma is going to have my hide. I
pick the fragments off.
“What’s your
problem, jerk? Walk much?” I rub the part of my forehead that took the brunt of the
impact and look up to sneer at my assailant—and immediately regret my tongue-lashing.
A lump catches in my throat like a big fat pill as I try to swallow back all
the nasty that just flew out of my mouth.
Cash Travis,
resident don’t-eff-with-me-or-I’ll-break-your-face, looms above. From the scowl
on his face, I’m about to be his next victim.
