Music. It sails me to far off places I’d otherwise never venture. If you’ve read my blog you know I have an affinity for music, most especially indie music. More specifically the artists I tend to love are classified as singer/songwriter.(Okay, serious abuse of adverbs...moving on.) These people astound me beyond words. I can only wish I could verbalize to each and every one of them how their music suspends me. I don’t think it is possible for those artists to fully comprehend what it does for me.
A few months back @jasonpoemusic on twitter began following me. I read his profile, saw he was a song writer so I thought what the hey, I'll follow back. Since then I believe he has quit following me but I stayed tuned to him. So glad I did. He’s doing a 7in7, seven songs in seven days. (what NaNoWriMo is to writers, 7in7 is to singer/songwriters.) He releases one song over the next seven days. On Friday he released the first song in the series, “Swim” I’ve listened to it no less than 30 times.
I LOVE IT! For me that is saying a lot. I’m really picky with the music I listen too. First, the music needs to move me, but if the lyrics suck, I’m out. I love the lyrics of “Swim”. It’s a cryptic struggle with love. You have to hear the song to appreciate the lyrics. Go here for your free download .
Lyrics to Swim by Jason Poe:
I swim, I swim, far and wide, all against the tide
I swim, I swim, for the shore, for the ways to make it right
I want the waves to come crashing in
I want love to save us
I want to feel the tide turn again
Let's turn again
I swim, I swim, back again, for the low and for the high
I swim, I swim, for the end, and I don't know why
I want the waves to come crashing in
I want love to save us
I want to feel the tide turn again
Let's turn again
But if I sink, and if I fall
Who'd be there to save us all?
Underneath I'll let it go
To whichever way the water flows
Where will it go?
I want the waves to come crashing in
I want love to save us
I want to feel the tide turn again
Let's turn again
