What's Up Wednesday

Man, if it wasn't for this weekly meme, I might not make my goal of two a week blog posts.  In case your interested in joining the weekly meme, (and no, you don't have to do it every week...or ever if it makes you happy.  And isn't all about making you happy?) then pop over to Jamie Morrow's blog, put your link in the link thingy and then hop to other blogs!

WHAT AM I READING
Good question.  It's not for a lack of books that I'm not reading. TBR pile is teetering worse than the tower of Pisa. I'm not reading because of a lack of picking something.  But I think I'm going to read Jenny Han and Sibohan Vivian's Burn for Burn or Robin Mellom's Ditched. (I know! I'm like ten years behind on these books I've had for over a year!)

The sad thing, I don't think I'm going to make my 30 books in a year.  I used to read 50 but I just don't have the motivation this year.  Not sure why. Oh well.  I remind myself, the majority of the people I know (not my book dork/writer friends like you guys) don't read a book a year.  That used to be me. So when I remind myself of that, I'm okay with my almost 30 books a year. :)

WHAT AM I WRITING
Well, I was writing on my new manuscript last week.  I'm about halfway through it.  And I wrote about 6K.  I'm a happy camper.  This week I'm doing a little more revisions on the manuscript my agent has.  (It sounds fancy when you put my agent in italics, doesn't it? I swear, guys, someday soon I'll stop doing that...I hope.)
Like I said last week, my goal is to have my manuscript done by end of November...not sure if that's going to happen because I didn't factor in that week the kids were off. We shall see.

WHAT INSPIRES ME RIGHT NOW
Troy Moth's photography.  For anybody who knows me, I'm a nature geek.  I'm most fascinated with birds of prey. Most especially this piece: Troy Moth's White Falcon

I'm ordering the 16X20 of this to go on my mantel. But all of Troy's works are pretty amazing.  I think the reason why I truly love his work is because the animals captured in his Animal Works series are of, what i'd refer to, as Native American animals: buffalos, wild ponies, wolves, birds of prey. Here's the buffalo print I might end up buying too.

WHAT ELSE HAVE I BEEN UP TO
So you know that Christmas shopping I was getting started on last week?  I've been racking up on the presents up! I hope to start wrapping this next week.  I haven't really worked on my office much, I've been busy.  Little bits at a time.  Other than that, I don't have much to say.  Sorry nothing exciting this week.  I'm off for a run.  Talk to you guys later.

P.S. I have not reviewed this post for typos. Please ignore them. :D

  1. I love those pictures! I also totally relate to not reading as much as you used to. A few years ago I read more than 150 books in a year. This year there is no way I'm going to make my 50 book goal. I've been doing other productive things while not reading though. It sounds like you have too. Like writing! Congrats on getting so much done on your project, good luck meeting your goals next week.

    1. You're right, Kate. I need to focus on the fact that I've been writing and I was working on getting an agent. Very important to my writing career, just as much as reading. We will do better next year on our goals. I can feel it.

  2. Gorgeous photographs! Good luck with your revisions, and on finishing your other manuscript this month.

I thought DITCHED was a fun read and I have BURN FOR BURN on my shelf. I need to read it soon.

    1. I've met Robin several times and love her. I feel horrible I haven't read her book yet and I heard I'd love it. I need to get on that. Both books actually.

  3. Writing and revising. Go Team You! :D And you're right - my agent does look fancy in italics ;)

Thanks for sharing those photos. They're stunning!

    Have an amazing week!

  4. Man, those pics are awesome. Love the falcon.

I wish I had more time to read. I mostly read in bed and then fall asleep and have to re-read the next evening. Vicious circle.

Good luck on reaching your goal for the end of November. If not, you can still be proud of all the progress you've made.

    1. Ha! The vicious reading circle--been there, done that. Then you read that book that keeps you up way past midnight. Those are the books dreams are made of. Seems like you have a good book on your nightstand with Laini Taylor. Good luck.

  5. I love that you have an agent to italicize! SO happy for you! And I've been going through a reading slump too, but my focus has been my WiP so...

Have a great week! You're inspiring me to get started on my Christmas shopping!

  6. Those photos are so striking. Wow. I LOVED Ditched. Finished it right before SCBWI and I ran into Robin. Luckily I could gush about the book.
