Dear 3 a.m.,

Dear 3 a.m.,

It hurts me to tell you this, but we must part ways. Over the last few years, we've had some amazing times. Moments that guarantee you'll always hold a special place in my heart. But the truth is, I've fallen in love with someone else. It has come to the point where I have to chose, between you and sleep.  There are so many wonderful things that you've given me, like brilliant ideas for new stories, solutions to plot holes and most importantly, quiet time with just us and no children or husband to interrupt us.

If you were more like 10 a.m., then maybe we could continue this torrid affair.  But you're simply unable to change.  I'm sure we'll see each other here and there, like casual friends.  But I'd prefer if you'd respect my wishes and stay away.

I'll miss you.

Xoxo,
Dana

  1. For me I parted ways with 2:30 and started dating 4 am. Funny, though, I feel lonely.

  2. ROFL. I visited with 3 am the other night, when my daughter woke me up with a coughing fit. I was not too impressed with 3 am. But I did warm up to 4 am and decided to get up and read. Okay, I was still in bed while reading, but you get the idea. :)

  3. Oh my gosh, hilarious! I parted ways with any AM past 11 long ago, and I'm not even particularly fond of 11. I'm officially old. And this is way TMI, but husband and I still joke about the days where we seemed to um....'meet up'...around 3 and 4 AM quite frequently. LOL

  4. I would love to break up with 3 a.m., but haven't been able to do so. Do you have a secret to your resolve? (Though I do kind of like my mini-trips to the Internet in the quiet in the house.)

  5. Jeremy, Four am is much sexier, in my opinion. And do able too.

Stina - When I have a good book, 4 am makes for a hot date, for sure!

Nicole, And this is no joke, but 4 am is still my favorite time to "meet up" it's almost like a sexual alarm. LOL!

MotherReader - No secrets, I'm hoping this letter will do the trick. I'll let you know.

  6. Ha!
I haven't been tight with 3AM for decades. 5AM is a somewhat grey & shaky comrade, but 7AM is a fine & upstanding citizen & friend.
    Thanks for the laugh.
